GIRL-POWER DRIVES ONE-DAY JAMBOREE BONANZA TO WILLOWBANK RACEWAY THIS WEEKEND

26 August 2014

When the Brisbane Jamboree hits Willowbank Raceway this Saturday the 30th of August, it will do so with an action-packed one-day format that sees better bang for buck for racers and fans alike.

Racing is expected to run ‘non-stop’ all day and well into the evening, with the popular Outlaw 10.5 bracket amongst those set to wow the spectators – including fast femme racers Michelle Davies, the world’s fastest woman on a 10.5 inch tyre, and local racer Nikki Hepburn – driver of Australia’s fastest Gemini.

Twenty-four year old Hepburn will be making her third appearance as part of the Brisbane Jamboree and is especially looking forward to seeing the one-day format in action.

“This will be my third Brisbane Jamboree and I can’t wait – it is an awesome and well-run event with a great atmosphere,” said Hepburn, who is supported on-track by father Clint, partner Luke, Firepro, Horsepower Solutions, Promodz Racecar Fabrications and Profab Motorsports.

“It should be especially big this year, with the new one day format guaranteeing it is going to be action-packed start to finish.

“This weekend we will be doing all we can to run our first six second pass in my Gemini twin-turbo big block – fingers crossed!” said Hepburn, whose Personal Best elapsed time in her Gemini is currently 7.03 seconds, the fastest in the country.

Joining Hepburn in adding a feminine edge to the Outlaw 10.5 bracket will be the world’s fastest woman on a 10.5 inch tyre – thirty nine year old Michelle Davies who will be making her Willowbank Raceway debut, supported by her husband and sons who also race in junior dragsters at Sydney.

“I have only ever raced at Sydney Dragway previously, so I am really looking forward to getting on-track at Willowbank which I hear is a really awesome and fast track,” said Davies, a Home Care Services Coordinator from Mount Annan in New South Wales.

“This will also be my first Jamboree event, and I can’t wait to get on track in the 10.5 class in my beautiful LX Torana Hatchback – watch-out boys! You won’t be able to miss her – she is painted in House of Kolor’s Black Diamond paint and airbrushed head to toe with flames, clowns and angels by Joe Webb at Bad Image – she certainly stands out!

“Hopefully there will be plenty of people at Willowbank Raceway this weekend to see her make her Willowbank Raceway debut – there will be lots of different cars with all sorts of power hitting the track, it is going to be great day out,” said Davies, who is supported on-track by husband Gareth, crew guys Trent Sturgess and Lee Osbourne, as well as Al’s Race Glides, Lucas Oil and SCF Race Cars.

Previously run over two days, the event has decided to squeeze all that action into one extended day program from 2014. Amongst all the action will be a Motive DVD Drift Exhibition (new for 2014), a meeting of the growing Downshift group, and on-track action aplenty. Event Organiser Ray Box said it allowed spectators the chance to see everything they wanted in one full-on day, while delivering amazing value for money.

“With the new event program, we will have more cars in the show n shine, more babes on stage, bigger crowds, and non-stop racing action all through the day and into the evening. Packing two days’ worth of action into one day is going to be a huge challenge, but one we know is going to be more than worth it for the fans – the action will never stop, and that is going to see the atmosphere and the value for money really reach a whole new level,” said Box.

Hepburn and Davies are expected to be joined on track by more than 200 racers competing across a range of Sport Compact brackets as a range of off-track activities take the event atmosphere to a whole new level including a Motive DVD Drift Exhibition, a range of competitions and the Just Car Show n Shine, traders and more.
