When the Shannons Queensland Autospectacular comes to Willowbank Raceway on Sunday 6 April, it will bring with it pint-sized novelty action thanks to the Australian Rocker Cover Nationals.

Rocker (Tappet) Cover Racing, which involves racing cars made from Rocker Covers, is gathering an increasing following in Australia after becoming popular in the USA and England, attracting enthusiasts from all age brackets.

Lincoln Clarke of Woodend is one youngster looking forward to the event, which encourages competitors to create either a ‘speed’, ‘tribute’ or ‘wild thing’ car from a standard rocker cover.

The six year old has already established his credentials in the world of rocker cover racing with a win last year in the children’s category with his racer modelled on a Sandman Panel Van that his grandfather drove in the seventies.

“I like to win, racing at Willowbank last year was really fun,” said Lincoln.

“I hope I can win again this year and beat my big brother Jake and everyone else including the adults - that would be really great, it should be fun!”

The Australian Rocker Cover Nationals will be joined at Queensland’s premier drag racing facility for the Shannons Queensland Autospectcular by more than 1,000 judged/display vehicles and 6,000 auto enthusiasts.

Willowbank Raceway CEO Tony Manson said the Shannons Queensland Autospectacular was the perfect place for auto enthusiasts to get their fix.

“The Shannons Queensland Autospectacular is a truly great event offering something for every motoring enthusiast,” said Manson.

“There are tonnes of activities for a great value fun-filled family day, with tickets for spectators just $10 for adults with children 13 and under enjoying free entry.

“The list of things to see and do is exhaustive, so I am sure we will see plenty of families and car enthusiasts rushing around to take it all in on the 6th of April.”

Trophies for the Australian Rocker Cover Nationals will be awarded for a range of winners including Australian Grand Champion, Australian Junior Champion, Australian Champion Tribute and Australian Champion Wild Thing.  More information on Rocker Cover Racing and how you can get involved in the competition is available at http://www.queenslandautospectacular.com.au/rockercoverracing.php
