Sponsors, racers throw their support behind Willowbank nostalgia action

Sponsors and racers are throwing their support behind the first nostalgia event to be held at Willowbank Raceway under the facility’s management.
The Cruzin Magazine Nostalgia Drags event will be held at Queensland’s premier drag racing facility on February 25 2012 and will be the first since a new agreement between the drag way and Nostalgia racers to revolutionise the management of these popular events was struck.
Already, a long list of sponsors have signed up while racer interest indicates more than 150 racers are set to enter what will be one of two nostalgia events for 2012, with management looking to expand the calendar to three outings in 2013.
“Gasoline Magazine, Winters Smash Repairs, Western Suburbs Differential and Gearbox Services, Donnelly Blasting Services, Shannons Insurance, Autobarn, World Classic Muscle Cars and of course Cruzin Magazine have all got behind us,” said Steve Bettes, Managing Director of Willowbank Raceway.
“We have been blown away by the support of not only the corporate community but also the racer base – it is really shaping up to be a great event and the first step in a great future for nostalgia racing at Willowbank Raceway.
“We will soon be able to announce the date for the second 2012 event, and our plans to expand the nostalgia calendar to three events are already gaining momentum.
“Plans and interest is also advancing for the new nostalgia category we are planning for 2013 – Nostalgia Super Stock – with racers developing a strong interest in getting behind it, it is really an exciting time!”
The action on February 25 will not be restricted to the quarter-mile, with great family entertainment and a full trade alley also planned. Further information can be found at willowbankraceway.com.au
